Rowell Bridge

The Rowell Covered Bridge was built in 1853 by Horace Childs for $2,637.64. Located in West Hopkinton, it is the only surviving covered bridge built by Childs. The village-style bridge is named for the Rowell family, who settled in Hopkinton from Massachusetts.

The 167-foot, single-span bridge features a unique truss design. After a year-long, $365,000 rehabilitation by the NHDOT, the Rowell Covered Bridge was officially reopened at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 1, 1996. It is maintained by the Town of Hopkinton.
