Built in 1880 by James F. Tasker and Levi H. Sanderson for $692.75, the Meriden Covered Bridge, or Mill Bridge, spans Blood Brook in Plainfield’s Mill Hollow. The 80-foot multiple kingpost truss survived damage from Hurricane Carol in 1955 and was restored in 1963 through the State Bridge Aid Program. Additional repairs, including a major restoration in 2020, have kept the Meriden Covered Bridge carrying local traffic for more than 140 years.
