Packard Hill Bridge

Built in 1991 by master bridgewright Arnold M. Graton, the Packard Hill Covered Bridge spans the Mascoma River in Lebanon. The 140-foot Howe truss was reconstructed from a 7-by-9-inch photograph of the earlier covered bridge, which had been removed in 1952 after serving the site for more than 70 years. Graton preserved the original granite abutments and used Douglas fir, spruce, pine, and cedar shingles in the new structure. The project began in 1990 and cost $316,000.
