Built in 1829, the Haverhill-Bath Covered Bridge spans the Ammonoosuc River in Woodsville and is the oldest covered bridge in New Hampshire.
The two-span Town lattice truss was a joint project of Haverhill and Bath, with both towns sharing the cost of materials and labor. After years of deterioration, the Haverhill-Bath Covered Bridge Committee led a grassroots fundraising effort that, combined with private donations and state and federal grants, made restoration possible. Work began in 2007, preserving the original trusses while repairing arches, replacing decking and siding, and installing a new roof and fire protection system. The Haverhill-Bath Bridge reopened to pedestrians in August 2008.
