The Book Launch

As I write this, Covered Bridges of New Hampshire is being printed. Somewhere in middle America, my words and photographs are being superimposed onto 288 full-color pages and bound together. In a few weeks, the boxes will arrive and it will be time to celebrate.

I’m excited to share that the book launch event will be held right here in Hancock.

The covered bridge that started it all is about four miles east of our house on the Hill. In the decade that we have called Hancock home, we have driven over the County Bridge countless times on our way to and from civilization (Milford). We have kayaked underneath it on our way to Powdermill Pond more times than I can count. It’s part of our routine now; a landmark of sorts. When we cross over it, or under it, we’re home.

Pemi on Thumb Mountain

About three miles to the east of the Hill lies the Harris Center for Conservation Education. In addition to offering programs and education, supporting conservation research, and maintaining a 36,000-acre Super Sanctuary, the Harris Center maintains miles of hiking trails. We hike here. A lot. The trails are well maintained, and, more importantly, Pemi is allowed to come too. I’ve attended workshops in their function room and online programs about birds, bats, and bears. We spend a lot of time on Harris Center property and are grateful for their presence in our community.

So I am extremely honored that the folks at the Harris Center agreed to host my book launch.

Join us in the spectacular, octagonal, post-and-beam Babbitt Room on November 16 to officially bring Covered Bridges of New Hampshire into the world in the community where it all began.

I hope to see you there.

Please note: Space is limited and registration is required.
